The Great Pumpkin!

A crisp fall morning is the perfect time for a family outing! I have been wanting to make a trek to a pumpkin patch for a few weekends and the weather or other commitments just haven't cooperated. The perfect day arrived on Saturday. We awoke to a sunny, but crisp 60 degree day. I convinced Grady that we needed to drive to a patch in Durham, about an hour away. We hopped in the car and took off for Ganyard Hill Farm.

It was better than even I expected. The perfect urban farm adventure. Heaven for a two-year old and her parents! Lia climbed the hay mountain, made her way through the hay maize, saw cows, pigs, roosters and rabbits, fed the goats, picked and shucked corn, picked cotton (did you know that it actually looks like a real cotton ball growing right on a branch? Me either!), rode on a tractor-pulled hayrack ride and finally, picked our very own pumpkins right off the vine. Lia loved every minute, which in turn, meant that we loved every minute! Ganyard Hill Farms is forever marked on the GPS unit, so we can make our way back every year!
